Think about it, who do you know that isn’t on WhatsApp? End that thought. There is no point.

If you could get your products to reach your target audience on WhatsApp, a place with billions of users, visited daily, and get them to click THROUGH to order or make a request…

That’s the peak of conversion.

Why?

Any prospect that has crossed that line to expose their privacy just to enquire or learn more about what you are offering is ready to buy.

If you have products to sell and want to make a good number of sales daily, continue reading.

1) SPICE UP YOUR WELCOME MESSAGE

Don’t just be boring with your welcome message, there’s a lot you can do with it. It’s the first message and should serve as a link to almost everything you do at a glance.

Your welcome message is the first communique you have with your first time prospects, make it count. The first impression can be a turn off if care is not taken.

Make sure your welcome message has the following:

  • welcome and appreciate their time, tell them how pleased you are.
  • insert links to the catalog if you have one, let them shop ahead winks.
  • Assure them you’ll reply ASAP with satisfying manner and urgency
  • Instruct them to save your contact so they can see new releases and coupons.

2) MAXIMIZE YOUR DEDICATED SHORTLINKS

The short link available in your account area should be maximized. Use apps like bit.ly to shorten it so you can track where most of your links come from and determine the success of your campaign efforts. You can also use an extension that sells your offer better. E.g, bit.ly/cakes.

Start tracking metrics like:

  • What source is bringing in the most traffic
  • what devices are they clicking from
  • what countries/areas are more promising

3) SETUP YOUR QUICK REPLIES, IT’S IMPORTANT

As expected, some prospects will have almost the same question that requires the same answer. You don’t want to keep typing the same thing all over when you can just click /answer and send. It’s that simple, in 3 clicks. Imagine the stress it’s saving you.

Based on inquiry pattern, draft your Frequently Asked Questions, assign each to different keywords, and save them ahead of conversations with customers.

For example,

Question: Can I have a price list of the cost of getting a blouse?

Answer: Thanks for requesting, please find the price list (or cost of ) a set of blouse below.

Quick Reply: /cost and boom, the message auto-populates, and you hit send.

4) BUILD YOUR CUSTOMER DATABASE

You have to be forward-thinking, as you grow your WhatsApp Chat base, don’t stop there. Technology can be funny at times, also your phone and number may be tampered with so push the conversation forward.

Ask customers to fill a form where you can collect their names, telephone number, Email Address, and as much as necessary. This way, while you are communicating via WhatsApp, you can use other mediums like bulk SMS, Email Marketing, etc. to sell your products.

5) SEGMENT YOUR CUSTOMERS USING LABELS

Just like a business, as usual, some customers are worth more than others, based on purchasing power. Also, some are ready while others need a bit more convincing, creating labels and assigning each prospect a label will help you prioritize support and messaging.

It’ll also help you ease prospect transition from one label to another as they drawer closer to buying and repeat customers. Using labels can also allow you to send a broadcast message to a selected few with targeted messaging.

Some of the labels include:

  • New Customer
  • New Order
  • Pending Payment
  • Paid
  • Order Complete

Feel free to tweak this information to suit your business need or in a way you understand it best.

6) LEVERAGE THE 4 COMMUNICATION CHANNELS

Communicating with customers can be a daunting experience, and you may decide to be direct or be general. Find what works best for you and your customers.

Using WhatsApp avails you four channels which include:

  • One-on-one Direct chat
  • WhatsApp Status area
  • WhatsApp Broadcast
  • WhatsApp groups

Be cautious about how you use Broadcast and Groups. Make sure you have explicit consent before using it, you have to maintain professionalism and don’t spam them otherwise, you risk being blocked or muted.

7) ADD PRODUCT CATALOG

Don’t waste time trying to explain your products to customers when you can introduce your products with a good image and product description, price, product links, and SKUs that you can share directly with customers.

When adding catalog, you have to:

  • Use good product images
  • Make sure your description is readable
  • The price should boldly be stated.
